Why You Should Be Using Eye Cream

I’ve seen many clients who share their skincare regimen with me, and it almost never includes using an eye cream or serum. Many people don’t realize the importance, so I’d like to share that info with you today.

The skin around your eyes is much thinner than the skin on the rest of your face and body. It’s very delicate and this is the area where signs of aging show first. This area needs to be treated more delicately, and this is the primary reason eye creams are used, in addition to the fact that it’s made for the more sensitive area. Eye creams should be applied with your ring finger (as it tends to produce the least amount of pressure) in light, dabbing motions around the eye. You don’t need to apply eye creams close to the lash line – many products tend to migrate a little and it may seep into your eye, so just go around the bone in the eye area. Never pull or stretch the eye area.

You can find many eye creams on the market for many issues – like anti-aging, dark undereye circles, etc. I tend to lean toward specialty and department store brands over drugstore brands, but if it comes down to being between using nothing and using the drugstore brand, try that at the least.

I suggest anyone over 25 start to use eye creams day and night, incorporating into their routine. You can thank me later 😉
